Bone Folder, sharp scissors, awl, sturdy bookbinding needle (or long darner with a generous eye), small glue brush ( 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch), large paste brush, weights, flat boards cutting mat, snap off blades type of knife, ruler with cork back 12 inch and 18 or 24 inch No. 2 pencil, and eraser, clips to hold papers together, small hammer and board to pound on.

Text weight papers for text blocks, heavier papers for cover stock, Davey board or Mat-board for cover stock, Linen thread 2 or 3 ply, (you can also use cotton warp threads for some types of bindings), Wax for thread (beeswax or other hard, sticky wax such as paraffin candle or 50/50 wax), Decorative paper, Paints, Inks, PVA glue (bookbinder’s glue like Jade), paste (starch based).
