Based on Book furniture from classic books from the great libraries
Silver and Brass
Every piece of jewelry in this collection was chosen by a librarian – They are based on the designs of book furniture – the beautiful highly decorated jewelry-like metal pieces that adorns precious books!
These can now give a flourish to you or your cherished favorite reader of books! These pieces are based on book fittings from the Folger Shakespeare Library(Washington, DC) using the same size and materials. When I was an artist-fellow studying these wonderful little objects, I asked the librarians which ones they would choose if I were to make jewelry out of the designs.
They had all sorts of reasons for choosing them and were delighted with their pieces, as I am hoping you will be!
Each piece is made the same scale as what was found on the book, unless the librarian in some cases asked for a half-scale – this was done in addition to the full scale model. The sawing, filing engraving, forming, casting processes and finishing are all done by hand.
